John Breaux Webb
CROWLEY- A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10a.m. Monday, January 16, 2012 at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church for John Breaux Webb, 83 who died January 13, 2012 in Crowley.
Fr. Gary Schexnayder will officiate the services. The family request visiting hours to be held Sunday from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Monday, 8 a.m. to the time of service. A rosary will be recited by the Knights of Columbus at 6 p.m. Sunday. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery.
Mr. Webb was known and loved by his family for his courageous strength, love and faith. He was married to the love of his life, Louise, for 65 years. He was an auditor for the Louisiana Department of Revenue before his retirement. He was a lifelong resident of Crowley and a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 5499 where he served as secretary for the council and became a life-time member as a 4th Degree Knight. Mr. Webb was a longtime participant in the Senior Olympics, competing on the local, state and national levels, winning numerous awards including Olympian of the Year in 1998. In 2001 he was inducted into the Senior Olympics Hall of Fame. He was a Member of the Acadia Parish Council on Aging where he served on the board as President from 2009-2010. He was also a member of St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church. He was an avid Ham Radio Operator who held the call letters K5ANN for over 50 years. He was a loving Husband, Father, Grandfather, Great-grandfather and friend to many and will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him. He will be remembered for his love of his family, his humorous personality and eagerness to constantly give back to not only his community but his family.
He is survived by his wife Louise Cheek Webb, one daughter, Marie Hebert and her husband Ronald of Lafayette; one son J.C. Webb and his wife Suzy of Crowley; and a daughter-in-law, Cherylyn LeBlanc Webb of Lafayette; six grandchildren, Michelle H. Frederick and her husband David, Aimee Hebert Dronet and her husband Anthony, Jennifer Webb Abadie and her husband Chad, Jimbo Webb and his wife Stephanie, Joshua Webb and his wife Bethany, Jeremy John Webb; and fourteen great grandchildren.
Mr. Webb is preceded in death by his mother Mary Lou Schisler; step-father Clausen Schisler; son Johnny F. Webb; and one grandson, Ronald W. Hebert, Jr.
Mr. Webb’s family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to everyone for their many prayers, support and guidance through this most difficult time, especially the entire staff at Southwind Nursing Home and also Heart of Hospice.
