John Lester “Tat” Monceaux
John Lester “Tat” Monceaux, 68, was born September 22, 1940 in Rayne to Deus and Margaret LeBlanc Monceaux, and died Wednesday, Feb. 25, 2009 at St. Frances Cabrini Hospital in Alexandria
with his son, Jeremy Monceaux and his companion, April Perry, his three sisters, Velma “Pam” Hoffpauir, Rita Monceaux and Helen Joyce Alleman at his bedside.
Father Okot William said the Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick, the Sacrament of Reconciliation, and anointed him with the Ashes on Ash Wednesday, minutes before his passing.
Tat attended St. Joseph High School in Rayne and entered the United States Navy immediately after graduating. He joined his brother, J.D. Monceaux, for a short period at Monceaux’s Photography in Rayne.
He worked for the Crowley Post-Signal, Pennzoil Co., off shore until he started a career as a consultant in the oil industry until his death.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his son, Jon Ryan Monceaux; two brothers, J.D. and George Monceaux; sister, Willie Mae M. Droett; brothers-in-law, John B. “Pete” Dronett and Leroy J. “Shake” Hoffpauir, Sr.; sister-in-law, Marguerite B. Monceaux; nephews, Terry Monceaux, Bryan, Sr., and Gregory Sr. Hoffpauir; and great-nephews, Michael “Huff” Hoffpauir and André Seth Fontenot.
He leaves numerous friends, nephews, nieces, great-nephews, great-nieces, and relatives.
