John Suire asks the people for their vote in re-election bid for District Four seat
By: John Suire
In making my announcement for your support for re-election to the Acadia Parish School Board, I would like to thank the people of District Four for giving me the opportunity to serve as your representative for the past six years.
I have learned a great deal about our school system since I was first elected to serve on the Board. I have addressed many important issues concerning the children and people of this parish. Teachers’ salaries, curriculum, new construction, major repairs, and maintenance, appointment of superintendent, air conditioning for every classroom, discipline, alternative education, and school uniforms are some of the many concerns that I have worked on to help improve teaching and learning in our parish. During my time as a member of the Acadia Parish School Board, I have served on several different committees. Currently I am serving as Chairman of Budget and Finance; other committees include Transportation and facilities, Technology Instructional and Federal Programs, Personnel and Insurance, and the Discipline committees while also serving as vice president for two years and president for two years.
I have been married for 27 years to my wife Patty, whose maiden name is Sarver, and we have two children. Nicholas, age 22, who graduate from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette in December of 2010 and Trisha, age 21, who is a senior at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. I am an active member of the First United Methodist Church where I serve on the Youth Council, Finance Committee, Council on Ministries, and chairman of the Church Council. I am currently employed at Garber Farms. Coming from a military family, I was born at Fort Polk, Louisiana and raised in Crowley. I am a 1981 graduate of Crowley High School. I have deep roots and a great love for the Acadia Parish community. I have been and will continue to stay very much involved in the education of our children. Through my involvement in our community, serving on various school board committees, and working within the schools, I am confident I am qualified to represent the children and people of Acadia Parish. I ask for your continued support in allowing me to serve as your representative for District 4 for the Acadia Parish School Board. Thank you.
