Joseph Austin Falcon
Rayne—A Mass of Christian Burial for Mr. Joseph Austin Falcon, 86, of Fountain Valley, CA, and formerly of Rayne, will be celebrated on Friday, August 9, 2013 at 2:00 P.M. in St. Joseph Catholic Church, Rayne. Father Kendal Faulk will serve as celebrant. Entombment will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery #2 Mausoleum, Rayne.
Visitation will be held on Friday, August 9, 2013 from 10:00 A.M. until 1:30 P.M. in Duhon Funeral Home of Rayne, with a rosary being recited at 11:30 A.M.
Mr. Falcon passed away on Tuesday, July 30, 2013 in Fountain Valley, CA.
A native of Rayne, Mr. Falcon moved to Texas after finishing high school. In Texas, he worked in shipyards before embarking on journeys to Asia as a merchant seaman. His high sea adventures were interrupted by his service in the U.S. Army during World War II. After the war, Mr. Falcon resumed his career as a merchant seaman. He eventually landed a desk job in Washington, DC with the Military Sealift Command, from which he retired after over 30 years of service. He lived in the Washington, DC area until his relocation to California, where he lived near his son until his passing.
Survivors include his daughter, Monica Falcon-Michaels and husband, Robert of Hanover, MD; son, Robert Falcon and wife, Penny of Huntington Beach, CA; grandchildren, Tyler Falcon and Kylie Falcon of Huntington Beach, CA; and many other relatives and friends.
Preceding Mr. Falcon in death were his parents, Ernest and Louise Weber Falcon; sister, Joyce Stutes; and brother, Nelson Falcon.
