Joseph G. Gary
Joseph G. Gary, 76, of Conway, Ark., passed away on Wednesday, July 8, 2009, at McClellan Veterans Hospital in Little Rock.
Born in Rayne, Louisiana, on July 11, 1932, he was a son to the late Anatole and Etta (Hulin) Gary.
Joseph was a veteran of the Korean War and was a member of the Air Force, Naval Reserve and the United States Army. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus 4th Degree, in Conway.
His stepmother, Katie Gary, two sisters, Delta L. Taylor and Geraldine Hicks, and one brother, Amic J. Gary, also preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Catherine Elizabeth (Rumker) Gary; three children, Cheryl A Johnson (Mike) of South Carolina, Robert J. Gary of Conway and Allen “A.J.” Gary (Kim), also of Conway; grandchildren, Chris F. Northcutt (Leanne) of South Carolina, John M. Johnson (Brandi) of South Carolina, Timothy B. Johnson of South Carolina, Samantha E. Gary of Texas, Blake A. Gary of Conway and Laci D. Roller (Chad) of Vilonia. Also surviving are two brothers Gordy P. Gary of Oregon and Wilton Gary of Louisiana; three sisters, Jeannette Mazeres of Tennessee and Marie Benoit and Bertha La Combe, both of Louisiana; and a number of nieces, nephews and friends.
The wake service was held at 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 12, at Roller McNutt Funeral Home in Conway, with family visitation following.
The Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10:00 a.m., on Monday, July 13, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Conway.
Interment followed at Crestlawn Memorial Park in Conway with Wilton Gary, Chad Roller, Blake Gary, Chris Northcutt, Jerry Rumker, Joe Nabholz and Brad Hedgeman serving as pallbearers.
