Joseph Gerald Trouille Sr.

CROWLEY - A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, April 16, 2011 at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church in Crowley for Joseph Gerald Trouille Sr., 90, who passed away on April 13, 2011.

The Reverend Alan Paul Trouille will be the celebrant. The family request visitation Friday, April 15, 2011, from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. with a Rosary to be recited at 6:30 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. Interment will be at Woodlawn Mausoleum.

Survivors include his wife, Rose Marino Trouille of Crowley; seven daughters, Cindy Trouille Adams and her husband Danny of Crowley, Toni Trouille Fogleman and her husband Rudy of Crowley, Mary Kay Trouille Hetzel and her husband Carl of Crowley, Nancy Trouille Mueller and her husband Mark of Columbia, Missouri, Bonnie Trouille Walton and her husband Bobby of Crowley, Donna Trouille Landry and her husband Paul of Crowley, and Debbie Trouille of Crowley; one son, Jerry Trouille and his wife Becky of Lafayette; twenty-three grandchildren, Christopher Adams and his wife Katie, Douglas Adams, Laura Adams Smith and her husband Garret, Brett Trouille and his wife Ashley, Alyce Trouille Benoit and her husband Brady, Ryan Fogleman and his wife Angie, Troy Fogleman and his wife Dena, Blake Fogleman and his wife Kelly, Rachel Fogleman, Jamie Hetzel Guidry and her husband Dexter, Karen Hetzel, William Hetzel, Eric Mueller, Andrew Mueller, Blaine Walton and his wife Sarah, Anna Walton, Henry Walton, Amy Walton, Gracie Walton, Robert Walton, Meredith Landry, Joseph Landry and Rose Landry; eleven great-grandchildren, George Adams, Charlie Trouille, Hudson Benoit, Bella Benoit, Nicholas Fogleman, Benjamin Fogleman, Mary Rose Guidry, Andrew Guidry, Matthew Guidry, Ella Walton and Marie Walton; one brother, Raynard Trouille of Washington, Louisiana; two sisters, Ann Trouille Tate and her husband Red of Washington and Joy Trouille Pitre and her husband Donald of Washington.

J. G. was preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Leola Fontenot Trouille, two brothers, Alvin and Donner Trouille and one sister, Ollie Trouille Vidrine.

J. G. was born in Washington, Louisiana, on November 20, 1920. He was a veteran of World War II serving with the U. S. Army’s 168th Antiaircraft Artillery Battalion in Australia, the Philippines and other islands in the southern Pacific Ocean. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the American Legion and the Knights of Columbus. He was an active member of St. Michael Catholic Church serving as an usher for many years. He owned and operated the Rose Theater in Opelousas and later worked for United Gas and Entex. He was a faithful attendee of Our Lady of the Oaks Retreat House in Grand Coteau and attended retreats there for more than fifty consecutive years. He was also a devoted fan and season ticket holder of Notre Dame High School sports.

Pallbearers will be grandsons, Christopher Adams, Brett Trouille, Ryan Fogleman, William Hetzel, Eric Mueller and Blaine Walton. Honorary pallbearers will be grandsons, Douglas Adams, Troy Fogleman, Blake Fogleman, Andrew Mueller, Henry Walton, Robert Walton and Joseph Landry.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to St. Michael Catholic Church, St. Michael School, Notre Dame High School, Heart of Hospice, Our Lady of the Oaks Retreat House, Grand Coteau, or Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Washington, Louisiana.

The family wishes to thank the nurses and staff of Heart of Hospice for their compassionate care of Mr. Trouille during his short illness.
