Joseph Nathan “Cornbread” Cormier
CROWLEY – Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, September 15, 2009 at the Geesey-Ferguson Funeral Home chapel for Joseph Nathan “Cornbread” Cormier, 73, who died Saturday, September 12, 2009 in Lafayette, La.
Rev. Jimmy Broussard, Pastor of the First Presbyterian Church of Crowley, will celebrate the services and the committal services at the St. Lawrence Cemetery in Mowata. Visitation will be observed Monday from 11 a.m. until 10 p.m. and Tuesday from 8 a.m. until service time. The Rosary will be prayed at 7 p.m. Monday.
Mr. Cormier was born Jan. 23, 1936 in Branch, LA.
He was a Notary public and did Tax work for many people and helped run ReMier’s Auto Glass. He was a proud member of the American Legion Post 371 of Iota and enjoyed helping with all functions and benefits. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus 6959 in Egan, LA. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and burning the Bar B Que. He spent many hours watching Westerns and Cowboy Movies.
He is survived by two sons Nathan Cormier and his wife Claudia and Jude Cormier both of Crowley; a daughter in Law Bernadette Cormier of Crowley; five grandchildren Evans Cormier, Jr., Nathan Cormier, Eulalie Cormier, Amanda Cormier and Derek Cormier.
He was preceded in death by his parents Evans and Marie Miller Cormier and a son Evans Cormier.
