Joseph R. Cormier, Sr.

CROWLEY – Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Friday, September 4, 2009 at Saint Theresa’s Catholic Church for Joseph R. Cormier, Sr., 80, who died Monday, August 31, 2009 at his residence in Crowley.

Fr. Emmanuel Etim, Pastor of Saint Theresa’s Catholic Church will celebrate the Mass and the Committal services at the Old Crowley Cemetery. Visitation may be observed at Saint Theresa’s Catholic Church on Friday from 8 a.m. until service time.

Mr. Cormier was born September 13, 1928 in Port Barre, LA. to the late Arthur and Amelia Cormier. He was a life long member of St. Theresa’s Catholic Church and the Knights of St. Peter Claver. He worked for Howard Duncan Construction Co. for 30 plus years and with Falcon Rice Mill. He was a member of various social clubs and enjoyed spending his time with his friends and family.

He is survived by his wife Mary Ann Delco Cormier of Crowley; two daughters, Darlene Cormier and Gloria Cormier Rogers both of Crowley; two sons Frank Cormier and his wife, Lushine of Baytown, Texas and Percy Cormier and his wife, Gloria of Crowley; a daughter-in-law Gloria Cormier of Crowley; a brother Horace Cormier of Baton rouge, LA; 12 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents Arthur and Amelia Jolivet Cormier; his first wife Christine Tezeno Cormier; a son Joseph Cormier, Jr.; three brothers and two sisters.
