July 4 Hours, Closures for South Louisiana National Park Service Areas

NEW ORLEANS, LA: Thursday, July 4, will see site closings at some of the six sites of Jean Lafitte National Historical Park and Preserve and at all three sites of New Orleans Jazz National Historical Park.

The Prairie Acadian Cultural Center of Jean Lafitte at 250 West Park Avenue in Eunice will be open its usual hours of 8:00 a.m-5:00 p.m. on July 4.

Visitor centers will be closed at the following Jean Lafitte sites, but entrance gates will be open as noted and the public is welcome to enjoy the grounds:

•Barataria Preserve, 6588 Barataria Boulevard, Marrero, 504-689-3690 ext. 10; gates open 9:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.

•Chalmette Battlefield and National Cemetery, 8606 West St. Bernard Highway, Chalmette, 504-281-0510; gates open 9:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m.

The following areas will be closed:

•Jean Lafitte National Historical Park and Preserve Headquarters and French Quarter Visitor Center, 419 Decatur Street, New Orleans, 504-589-2636 ext. 1

•Wetlands Acadian Cultural Center, 314 St. Mary Street, Thibodaux, 985-448-1375

•Acadian Cultural Center, 501 Fisher Road, Lafayette, 337-232-0789 ext. 201

•New Orleans Jazz National Historical Park, Headquarters (419 Decatur Street) and visitor centers (916 North Peters Street, Old US Mint at 400 Esplanade Avenue, and Perserverance Hall in Armstrong Park), New Orleans, 504-589-4841
