CROWLEY - The Eunice Junior Oilers posted a 13-3 victory over Crowley in District Seven Junior American Legion Baseball action here Tuesday night at Miller Stadium.

The Junior Oilers, now 6-6 in district play, took the early lead with four runs in the first inning and were never threatened.

Errors played a key factor in the Junior Oilers’ four-run first inning.

Jacob Fontenot led off by drawing a walk off Crowley pitcher Brian Broussard. An error allowed Alex Lee to reach safely, but Tyler Fontenot singled to load the bases.

Another error, on a ball hit by Beau Leger, allowed two runs to score. Singles by Alex Comeaux and Brody Olivier completed the first-inning scoring.

Crowley pushed a run across in the bottom of the first against Eunice pitcher Zac Person. Taylor Bertrand drew a walk, stole second, and scored on a single by Tyler Dupuis.

Eunice increased its lead to 7-1 with three runs in the second. Jacob Fontenot reached base on yet another error, was sacrificed to second on a bunt by Lee, and scored on a single by Tyler Fontenot. Later, Comeaux’s single would score Fontenot, and Person would single to score Comeaux.

Eunice extended its lead to 8-1 with a run in the third. Connor Cortina doubled, went to third on a wild pitch, and scored on Jacob Fontenot’s grounder.

After Crowley cut the lead to 8-2 with a run in the bottom of the third, Eunice pulled away with a four-run explosion in the top of the fourth. Crowley committed another error, Tyler Fontenot had a single, and Comeaux added a home run to lead the Junior Oilers in the inning.

The two teams exchanged runs in the fifth, but Eunice would prevail due to the 10-run mercy rule.

Person worked three innings on the mound for the Junior Oilers. He allowed three hits and one earned run, while walking six and striking out one. Olivier worked two innings in relief, giving up two hits and no runs. He walked three and fanned one.

Broussard took the mound loss for Crowley. He was relieved in the second inning by Justin Deselle.

Tyler Fontenot led the Junior Oilers with four hits. Comeaux added three hits, with single hits coming from Cortina, Olivier, and Person. Dupuis had two hits to lead Crowley.

The Junior Oilers will complete their season 6:30 p.m. today when they host Rayne at the EHS field.
