Karris Johnson and Jed Toups Engagement party
The home of Brenda Hooper was the setting for an engagement party held in honor of Karris Johnson and Jed Toups.
Karris is the daughter of Albert and Bonnie Johnson of Rayne, and Jed is the son of Joan Hodges Toups and the late John “Butch” Toups of Basile.
The setting for the evening held a Mardi Gras Theme. The dining room table included miniature wine glasses of different shapes which held balls and beads of Mardi Gras colors. Also noted throughout the Hooper home were colorful hats, masks and beads of the festive season.
The menu consisted of roasted corn dip, spinach dip, cream cheese topped with pepper jelly, boudin, chicken strips, marinated meatballs, sweet and sour sausage, vegetable tray, and an array of beverages for all to enjoy.
The bride-elect’s attire consisted of a gold sequin dress with a Mardi Gras boa and crown, while her fianceé wore a purple king’s cape and crown. Those in attendance also wore traditional masks and beads.
Special guests in attendance for the pre-nuptial courtesy were the bride-elect’s paternal grandparents, Matilda and Jasper Johnson, and her maternal grandmother, Rita Melancon, all of Rayne.
Out of town guests registered from different points of Louisiana, as well as New Mexico. Approximately 60 family members and friends were in attendance.
Hostesses for the special evening event were Ken and Jeannie Johnson, Helen Johnson, Brenda Hooper, Jay and Mary Comeaux, and Ed and Amy Johnson.
Karris and Jed will recite their wedding vows on Friday, June 12, 2009, during a ceremony at St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church in Rayne, followed by a reception to be held at The Crown Room in Lafayette.
