Krista Leigh Talbot weds Reese Matthew Trahan

IOTA - Krista Leigh Talbot and Reese Matthew Trahan, both of Lafayette, were joined in holy matrimony during a candlelight ceremony at the Pointe-aux-Loups Springs Ballroom in Iota on Saturday, September 1, 2012. Reverend Randy Trahan, uncle and godfather of the groom, officiated the 7 p.m. nuptials.

The bride is the daughter of Tammy Whittington of Sunset and Mike Talbot of Youngsville. She is the granddaughter of Alex and Phillis Kibodeaux of Carencro, and Louise Talbot of Lafayette and the late James Talbot.

Krista graduated from Westminster Christian Academy in Opelousas in 2005 before attending the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. She is currently employed at Frank’s Casing in Lafayette as an accounts payable clerk.

The groom is the son of Ricky and Enola Trahan of Egan. He is the grandson of Leona M. Bellon of Iota, Clayton and Mary Frugé of Basile, and Jake and Gen Trahan of Egan.

Reese is a 2005 graduate of Iota High School and a 2010 graduate of Acadiana Technical College in Crowley. He is employed as a production draftsman with Frank’s Casing in Lafayette.

Musical selections for the ceremony were provided by Michael and Maria Williams.

The bride, escorted by her father, was radiant in a strapless ivory satin dress with a sweetheart neckline. Completely overlaid with lace, the romantic gown was reminiscent of the Victorian era. The fitted, center-gathered bodice was embellished with detailed bead work and adorned with a rhinestone brooch.

Krista carried a round bouquet with a mixture of ivory roses and lavender tulips entwined with pearls.

For good luck, Krista wore earrings that were “something new” and nail polish that was “something borrowed.” Her wedding shoes, blue high heels, served as “something blue.”

The bride was attended by her sister, Kara Talbot, as maid of honor. Rachael Messa, Kylee Kilstrom, Katie Hadley and Jayden Menard, all friends of the bride, served as bridesmaids.

The bridal attendants wore full-length strapless dresses in mercury-colored satin.

Carlynn LaLonde, a niece of one of the bride’s friends, served as flower girl.

Nathan Trahan, brother of the groom, served as best man. Standing as groomsmen were Travis Trahan, brother of the groom; Tyler Jabusch, Frank “Trey” Jabusch III and Bryce Istre, friends of the groom; and Caleb Whittington, brother of the bride.

Mason Talbot, the bride’s son, served as ring bearer.

For her daughter’s wedding day, the mother of the bride, the former Tammy Kibodeaux, selected a two-piece ensemble in shimmering lavender. The knee-length dress featured criss-crossed horizontal pleating and a brooch-embellished bust line. The outfit was completed by a bolero jacket with three-quarter length sleeves.

The mother of the groom, the former Enola Frugé, was clad in an ice blue crinkled satin dress featuring a lace-overlaid sleeveless surplice bodice. The defined waistline was accented with a brooch, and the skirt flowed in tiered cascades to the knee.

Both mothers wore corsages of orchids and rosebuds tied with white ribbon.

Immediately following the ceremony, a reception was held on site.

The ballroom was decorated with portraits of the bride and groom and fresh flowers.

The bride’s cake was a lovely three-tiered confection decorated with frosting roses and silver ribbon.

The groom’s red velvet cake was decorated in theme with the Beatles’ “All You Need Is Love” and served by Tracey Smith.

Out-of-town guests traveled from Texas and various points throughout Louisiana.

On the Thursday evening prior to the wedding, the groom’s parents hosted a rehearsal dinner at Fezzo’s in Crowley. Guests were able to choose from a variety of seafood, chicken and steak dishes.

Following their wedding trip to Cozumel, Mexico, the couple is residing in Lafayette.
