LaCombe, Hensgens honored with engagement party
An engagement party honoring Blanche M. LaCombe of Iota and Gabriel “Gabe” Hensgens of Broussard was recently held
at the home of Mike and Becky Fogleman.
The bride-elect is the daughter of Douglas and Lynette T. LaCombe of Iota and the granddaughter Mr. and Mrs. John LaCombe, Jr., also of Iota, and Norma Thevis of Crowley and the late James Thevis, Sr.
Blanche is a 2004 graduate of Iota High School and a 2008 graduate of Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge. She is currently a medical student at the Louisiana State University Health Science Center in Shreveport.
The prospective groom is the son of Keith “Skeeter” and Melanie Trahan Hensgens of Gueydan. He is the grandson of Doris Landry Hensgens of Crowley and the late Nick Hensgens and Mary Trahan, also of Crowley, and the late Glady Trahan.
Gabriel is a 2001 graduate of Notre Dame High School and a 2005 graduate of Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge. He is currently employed as a field engineer for Halliburton.
For the evening social, the bride-elect was lovely in a navy and white polka dot print dress with a matching white jacket accessorized with pearls.
The mother of the bride-elect chose an elegant white shantung jacket with black slacks, while the groom’s mother was stunning in a gold sateen jacket paired with black sateen slacks.
Fresh spring flower arrangements and tulips graced the table tops. Exquisitely framed photos of the engaged couple were displayed for every ones viewing.
Guests were served ab array of foods, including crawfish fettuccine, smoked turkey and brisket along with various desserts.
Approximately 100 guests attended traveling from Monroe, Baton Rouge, Lafayette and other surrounding towns.
Hosting the event were Mr. and Mrs. Mike Fogleman, Mr. and Mrs. Pat Trahan, Mr. and Mrs. John Trahan, Mr. and Mrs. Miles Frank, Mr. and Mrs. Phillip Trahan, Mr. Tom Trahan, Mr. and Mrs. Ken Cumbus, Mrs. Marian Hundley and Mrs. Peter Trahan.
The couple has planned an evening wedding for Friday, June 19, 2009 at Our Lady Help of Christians’ Catholic Church in Jennings.
