Lady Dogs top NISH
NEW IBERIA – After falling to Fairview earlier in the week, the Iota Lady Bulldogs got back on the winning track Friday with a 67-49 thumping of the New Iberia Lady Yellow Jackets.
“Overall, we really played well tonight,” said Iota coach Stan Baggett, whose team improved to 18-6 with the victory. “This was a good game for us. New Iberia was very athletic and it was a good test for us heading into district play.”
Iota, which begins district play Tuesday against St. Louis, was led by Allison Baggett’s 17 points.
The Lady Dogs jumped out to an 18-12 advantage in the first quarter before extending their cushion to 37-24 at the half.
The Lady Dogs defense picked up the pace in the second half, holding New Iberia to just 18 points in the final 16 minutes.
In addition to Baggett, the Lady Dogs had four other players in double figures. Katelyn Regan scored 11 and Katie Latiola, Jade LeJeune and Ashley Hargrave each added 10 points. Tori Stroderd scored seven and Ana Lege scored one.
