Lady Pios down St. Thomas More; Iota falls short
CROWLEY – Megan Malmay and Lindsey Meyer each recorded a double-double Tuesday to help lead the Notre Dame Lady Pios to a 3-1 (25-23, 20-25, 25-22, 25-23) victory over St. Thomas More at A.B. Dore gym.
Malmay finished the night with 11 kills, 20 digs, one ace and one block while Meyer had 11 kills, 10 digs, two aces and one block. Grace Morgan added nine kills, three digs and one block and Katherine Kirsch had four kills, 10 digs and two blocks.
Alex Miller set up the offensive attack with 16 assists to go along with four kills, nine digs and two blocks. Alli Daigle also had an assist and 12 digs.
Taylor Boulet led the Lady Pios’ defense with 43 digs. She also had two aces.
In other action, the Iota Lady Bulldogs dropped their first match of the season, falling to Breaux Bridge, 3-1.
The Lady Dogs won the first set, 25-23, but dropped the final three (19-25, 20-25, 21-25).
Taylor DeVille led the Lady Dogs with 13 kills, four blocks and three assists. Kaylee Richard added 11 kills, Madison Meche had nine kills and three blocks and Erika Manuel had seven kills and nine blocks.
Setter Mallory Faul had 26 assists, 19 digs and three kills while Melinda Russell and Jillian Boone had 43 and 42 digs respectively.
