Lady Pios earn No. 1 seed in volleyball playoffs
CROWLEY – The Notre Dame Lady Pios capped off a remarkable regular season last weekend, winning three games in the prestigious ESA Halloween Spooktacular Tournament before falling in the finals to Class 5A’s top seeded team, St. Joseph.
The Lady Pios (37-5) were rewarded for their spectacular regular season Monday when the prep playoff brackets were released. They claimed the No. 1 seed in Division III and earned a first round bye.
Crowley High earned a postseason berth with the No. 17 seed and will travel to No. 16 Westlake Wednesday. The time of that match was not set as of press time.
The winner of that contest will then take on the Lady Pios at Notre Dame in the second round.
Rayne also made the list in Division III as the No. 12 seed and will travel to No. 21 Loranger.
Northside Christian is the second-highest seed in Acadia Parish, earning the No. 4 spot in Division V. The Lady Warriors drew a bye in the first round and play host to the winner of the Ascension Episcopal-South Plaquemine.
Iota claimed the No. 13 seed in Division IV and will play host to Fisher Wednesday at 4 o’clock.
Winners of the first two rounds will advance to the Pontchartrain Center in Kenner for the State Tournament beginning on Nov. 12.
