Lady Pios top Sam Houston
CROWLEY – The Notre Dame Lady Pios improved to 7-2 on the season Monday with a 60-53 victory over Sam Houston at A.B. Dore gym.
The Lady Pios jumped out to a quick 7-0 advantage early in the first quarter before the Lady Broncos cut the led to 15-13 at the start of the second frame.
Notre Dame’s Kylie Pannell poured in six of her 21 points in the second quarter to help push the Lady Pios’ advantage to 33-25 at the break.
Sam Houston’s Kim Kennedy and Taylor Landry combined for 12 points in the third quarter to help trim Notre Dame’s lead back to three (46-43) heading into the final stanza.
However, that was as close as the Lady Broncos would get.
Pannell poured in 11 points in the final eight minutes as the Lady Pios outscored the Lady Broncos 14-10 to close out the contest.
Pannell’s 21 points paced the Lady Pios. She was followed by Celia Charles with 16 points and Taylor Simon with 10. Peyton Miller and Alex Boulet each pitched in four points, Mallory Chiasson added three and Lexie Trosclair finished with two.
Kennedy led the Lady Broncos with 25 points while Landry scored 13.
The Lady Pios will be in action again tonight when they travel to Cecilia to take on the Lady Bulldogs in a 6 o’clock contest.
