Lady Pios win Assumption tourney title
NAPOLEONVILLE – The Notre Dame Lady Pios reeled off six victories over the weekend and defeated Ascension Episcopal, 2-0, in the finals to claim the Assumption High School Tournament championship Saturday.
The Lady Pios knocked off South Terrebonne, H.L. Bourgeois and Brusly in pool play before topping Central Lafourche and E.D. White in bracket play to reach the championship game.
In the finals, the Lady Pios claimed a 25-22 victory in the first game before closing out the match with a 25-11 win.
Grace Morgan paced the Lady Pios in the finals with seven kills and two digs while Lindsey Meyer had six kills and seven digs.
Also: Laura Schmid added four kills and six digs; Anne Faulk had two kills; Alex Miller had one kill, 11 assists, four digs and two aces ; Sam Lyons had nine assists, six digs and two blocks and Olivia Barbin had one kill and eight digs.
