Lady Raiders win key games
Riverfield’s Lady Raider softball team notched two key district wins last week to put them in the the thick of the district championship race.
The girls have improved dramatically throughout the season. On Tuesday, the Lady Raiders whipped the River Oaks Lady Mustangs 8-3. Freshman Taylor Condrey held the Mustangs in check with her pitching, giving up only two hits. Gabriel Gandy led the hitting with a single , double and 3 RBIs. Lyndsey Englerth and Rachael Mosely also each added two hits and scored twice. Defensively, Caroline Doughty made five outs at second base, and the Lady Raiders made no errors in the field.
On Thursday, the Lady Raiders faced the Trinity Rebels and won 10-1. Condrey again took the mound and struck out 11 batters. Riverfield opened the game in a big way, scoring eight runs in the first inning. Cortney Chapman had a single and an inside-thepark home run, driving in three runs. Rachael Mosley added a triple. Shelby Templeton and Taylor Condrey each hit a pair of singles.
This week, the Lady Raiders face ACCS and Prairie View. The 2008 softball team is coached by Britni Adcox, Head Coach, Neal Condrey and Jimmy Gandy, Assistant Coaches. The Lady Raiders are Seniors Rachael Mosely, Shelby Templeton, Cortney Chapman and Sabrina Cencer. Juniors: Gabriel Gandy, Caroline Doughty and Skylar Burns. Sophomore: Logan Brown. Freshmen: Taylor Condrey, Lyndsey Englerth. Underclassmen: Taylor Weems, Katie Lee, Mackenzie Harrell, Haleigh Branch, Ali Davis and Emmi Greer.
