The Lake Arthur Lady Tigers took to the court for their second game of the Midland Spectacular Basketball Tournament in Midland this past Monday, December 29th against the Rayne High School Lady Wolves and dropped a hard fought 44-37 decision.

The Lady Tigers started out the contest well, taking an 11-6 lead after the first eight minutes of play and led 18-14 at half.

Lake Arthur held strong in the third stanza, putting up eight points compared to just six points for their Rayne counterparts.

But in the final period, Rayne exploded with a 24-11 eight minute run to overtake the Lady Tigers and claim a 44-37 win.

Carly Hay and Keyontae Campbell hit double figures in scoring for Lake Arthur with 14 and 10 points respectively, while teammates Ashalun Brown and Kadie Bonin contributed four tallies apiece. Samantha LeJeune posted three points, while Devyn Trahan added the final two points for the Lady Tigers.

Trysteen Teer led the Lady Wolves with 19 markers.

Brown and Bonin both fouled out of the contest, while Hay hit the only three-pointer for the Lady Tigers.

Lake Arthur hit on nine field goals, one three-pointer, and 16 of 24 free throw attempts.

The Lady Wolves managed eight field goals, five three-pointers, and 10 of 15 from the charity stripe.

With the loss, Lake Arthur fell to 3-10 for the season.
