Lady Trojans take District 6-2A win over Lady Panthers

The Lady Trojans of Sacred Heart inflicted a bit of revenge on the Pine Prairie Lady Panthers Tuesday night.
The Lady Panthers won the first district meeting between the two teams. This time around, Sacred Heart would be the better squad by posting a 66-41 victory over Pine Prairie, who was playing the visiting role.
The Lady Trojans battled hard and moved out to a 14-9 lead after the first frame. Quick passing and steals from Sarah Fontenot helped the SHHS girls grab hold of the momentum.
The Lady Panthers were not to be outdone. They found 18 points in the second period, doubling their offensive output of the first period. Sacred Heart fired back with 18 points of their own. It was a very fun and exciting period. The see-saw battle left Sacred Heart in the lead. The Lady Trojans took a 32-27 lead into the locker room.
The second half was all Sacred Heart. The third period was close, with Sacred Heart out-scoring the PPHS girls 12-9, but it was the fourth period that put the game away.
Sacred Heart scored an amazing 22 points in the period and held the Lady Panthers to just five points. The overwhelming turn around was just too tough for the PPHS girls to over come.
Fontenot led the Lady Trojans with 15 points and Elizabeth Ardoin had 10 points. Kelsie Enicke was good for nine points. The Lady Panthers were led by Kassidy Crawford who scored 14 points. O’Shanna Freeman pitched in with 10 points.
Sacred Heart improves to 3-5 in district and 11-12 overall. Pine Prairie falls to 2-6 in district and 5-17 overall.
Next up for the Lady Trojans is a road trip to Opelousas Catholic tomorrow night. The Lady Panthers host the Port Barre Lady Red Devils tomorrow night.
