Lady Wolves prepare for playoffs with warm-up wins

The Lady Wolves softball team completed their district slate Thursday with a 14-0 shut-out win over Northwest, finishing their 2013 season with a 7-3 district slate.
In the shutout over Northwest, Kelcie Bourgeois fanned 12 batters for strikeouts while limiting the Lady Raiders to only three base runners.
Leading the offensive stats for the Lady Wolves were Katleyn LeDoux (2 hits, 2 RBIs), Whitney Fontenot (2 hits, 1 RBI), Alex Peltier (3 hits), Ariel Meche (2 hits, 3RBIs), Kristin Gaspard (2 hits, 1 RBI, 2B), Cecily Schexnyder (2 hits, 1 RBI) and Mollie Simon (1 RBI).
The win over Northwest places Rayne High in a two-way tie for second place with Church Point. Both teams will qualify for the state playoffs due to the new power ranking system, but brackets were not available as of press time. Port Barre won the district outright and will enter as the district’s top team. Brackets were scheduled to be released today (Thursday) on the LHSAA website with bi-district action slated for next week.
In a warm-up game Monday in Rayne, the Lady Wolves defeated Delcambre, 3-1.
Bourgeois threw another win collecting nine strikeouts.
Katelyn LeDoux led the offensive stats for the Lady Wolves going 2-for-3 with a double and RBI. Amanda Bourque was 2-for-3, as was Ariel Meche and Cecily Schexnyder. Also collecting hits were Peltier, Benoit, Gaspard and Fontenot.
It was announced today (Thursday) the Lady Wolves will travel to North Desoto on Monday, April 15, for a 4:30 p.m. bi-district game for the first round of the state softball playoffs.
