Lady Wolves remain unbeaten in district action

With a win over Church Point Tuesday afternoon in front of a home town crowd, the Rayne High Lady Wolves Softball Team remained undefeated in district play, leading all others in 5-3A.

In earlier action, the Lady Wolves defeated Crowley High 10-1 on Thursday, March 26, as they began their second round of district action.

Collecting the win on the mound for Rayne High was Mariel Meche who tossed a one-hitter, fanning seven batters while giving up just two walks.

The Lady Wolves needed three innings to get warmed-up, with their offense coming alive in the fourth inning scoring two runs. They collected four more runs in the fifth inning, three in the sixth and a lagnaippe in the seventh and final.

Leading the Rayne High offense were Kaitlin Thibodeaux 2-4, 3 RBI and 2 runs; Kelsey Hollier 2-4, 3 runs; Skyla Schexnider 1-4, 1 RBI and 1 run; Mariel Meche 1-4, 1 RBI and 1 homer with a run; Julie Boutin 2-4, 1 run; Haley Habetz 2-4, 1 RBI; Brandy Carrier 2 RBIs and 1 run; Brittany Thibodeaux 1-3, 1 run; and Ava Stutes 1 RBI.

Crowley collected their only run of the game late in the game, coming in the sixth inning off a fielder’s choice

In a non-district contest, Rayne High scored a 6-3 win on March 25 at over Beau Chene. Mariel Meche collected another win tossing five strikeouts and three walks.

Leading the offensive stats for the Lady Wolves were Shandi Deville 3-4, 2 runs; Skyla Schexnider 2-4, 1 run; Kaitlin Thibodeaux 2-4, 1 RBI; Mariel Meche 1-4, 1 RBI; Kelsey Hollier 1-4, 2 runs; and Tori Mott with 1 run.

The Lady Wolves are schedule to take on Notre Dame today (Thursday) during their last district contest of the season. Rayne High will try to stretch out their undefeated district slate during the 5 p.m. contest.

Wolves

The Rayne High Wolves hosted Northwest in district action Tuesday afternoon as they scored a 12-2 district win over the Raiders.

Tyler Venable picked up the win for the Wolves on the mound, recording two strikeouts, one walk and three hits in his five innings.

Leading the offensive barrage for the Wolves were Chris Bourque 2-for-3, 4 RBIs; Zach Heinen 3-for-3, 2 RBIs; Aaron Chiasson 2-for-3, 1 RBI; and Trace Duplantis 1-for-3, 1 RBI.

The Wolves will travel to Westminster today (Thursday) for a non-district contest. They will continue district play on Monday, April 6, as they travel to Crowley High for a 6 p.m. contest.

Notre Dame banged out 12 hits and took advantage of seven walks and three Rayne errors en route to a 12-0 five-inning victory over the homestanding Wolves on Thursday.

The Pios improved to 13-6 overall and 3-0 in District 5-AAA play with the victory. The Wolves fell to 4-8 and 1-2.

Austin Robichaux picked up the victory for the Pios, tossing a two-hit shutout. He walked two and struck out 10, including six straight in the final two innings.

Savoie and Gilbert paced the Pios’ offensive attack, each going 3-for-4. Savoie had two doubles and drove in three runs.

ND’s Leonards was 2-for-3 with a triple and three RBI while Petitjean was 2-for-3 with a double and three RBI. Richard had one hit and one RBI and Bourgeois had a single.

ayne’s Eric Miller was 1-for-2 on the day, with teammate Scott Curtis 1-for-1.

Miller took the loss on the mound for the Wolves pitcing five innings allowing five walks, 13 hits and striking out one batter.
