Lady Wolves Win
The Rayne High Lady Wolves claimed a first-round win over Loranger Wednesday afternoon, advancing in Division III of the 2010 State Volleyball Playoffs.
With the bi-district win, Rayne High will now travel to No. 6 Ben Franklin High School on Monday, Nov. 8, for the regional round of action.
During Wednesday action, the No. 11 Lady Wolves claimed three straight games for the match, 25-12, 25-15 and 24-14.
Leading the offense was Carolyn Bell and Brooke Mire. Bel claimed eight kills and 11 digs, with Mire recording eight kills and two blocks.
Adding to the offensive attack were Kelsey Hollier (4 kills, 8 digs), Haley Cormier (3 kills, 8 assists, 5 dogs), Amanda Bourque (1 kill, 2 assists), Skyla Schexnider (1 kill, 1 assist) and Morgan Meche (1 kill).
Donating on defense were Kaylin Nero with four digs and Shelby LeBlanc with 10 digs, 1 kill and 1 ace.
Leading assists for Rayne High was Madeline Savoy with a dozen, along with four digs and an ace.
The Lady Wolves volleyball team completed their 2010 season with a 16-12 overall slate and an even 4-4 district collection for a third place finish behind Notre Dame and Teurlings.
Quarterfinals, semis and final games will be played at the State Volleyball Tournament slated Nov. 11-13 at the Pontchartrain Center in Kenner.
