L.A.H.S. honors leaders on Senior Night

Lake Arthur High School honored some of its very best and brightest senior student-athletes on Senior Night held recently in the Wilbert C. “Nooky” Moore Gymnasium in Lake Arthur.
Senior students and their parents were met at half court and escorted to the sidelines by Lake Arthur High School coaches Becky Meaux and Roderick Williams.
Senior student-athletes were awarded red, white, and blue basketballs by their coaches, while the seniors presented their parents / family representatives with red roses.
Those students honored with brief biographies are as follows:
--Brad Armentor--The son of Ria Armentor and Dwayne and Kim Armentor of Lake Arthur. Brad played basketball for four years as a guard. He has also been a member of the football team for four years, playing running back, defensive back, and tight end. Brad was a Second Team All-District member this season at tight end and was an All-Parish Honorable Mention pick. Brad was named to the prestigious Academic All-State Composite Football Team this year. He has been a member of the L.A.H.S. Track and Field Team for three years and qualified for Regionals in 2007 and 2008. He is a two-year member of FBLA, a three-year member of the National Beta Club, and a three-year member of the Student Council. He has competed at Literary Rally for three years and has been selected to attend the Presidential Classroom in Washington, D.C. He maintains a perfect 4.0 academic average. After graduation, Armentor plans to attend LSU and pursue a degree in Kinesiology.
--Erin Benoit-- Erin is the daughter of Matt and Charlotta Benoit of Lake Arthur. She has been a member of the L.A.H.S. basketball team for four years, playing the position of forward. She has been a member of the school’s Softball Team for three years, playing outfield and first base. Erin has been chosen as Class Favorite for three years. When she is not working at NAPA, she loves to hunt, shoot skeet, fish, and hang out with her friends and family. After graduation, Erin plans to attend the National EMS Academy for EMT / Paramedics.
--La’Tara Conley--La’Tara is the daughter of Debra Conley of Lake Arthur. La’Tara has played basketball for one year at the guard position. She has lettered in Track and is currently serving as L.A.H.S. Yearbook Editor. After graduation, La’Tara plans to attend LSU-E and then UL to study Law. She also hopes to run track in college.
--Samantha LeJeune--Samantha is the daughter of Glen and Mikka Guidry of Lake Arthur. Samantha has been a member of the L.A.H.S. Basketball Team for four years, playing center, and serves as the team’s captain. She was a member of FCA and Student Council for one year, cheerleading manager for two years, boys basketball manager for two years, and served on the CORE Team for the diocese for two years. After graduating, Samantha plans on attending McNeese University and majoring in Health and Human Performance to become a Physical Therapist.
--Durrell Prudhomme--Durrell is the son of Charlotte Simon and Darnelle Prudhomme. He has been a member of the L.A.H.S. basketball team for four years and has played point guard and shooting guard. Prudhomme was an All-District Honorable Mention selection as a freshman; All-District Second Team as a sophomore; and All-District First Team and All-Parish First Team as a junior. He is also a member of the school’s track team, and was a member of the State Runner-up 4x400 meter relay team. He was also a member of the 4x100 meter relay team that qualified for state. After graduation, Durrell plans to attend college a major in Business Management.
--Josh Turner--Josh is the son of Ms. Wanda Martin and William Turner. Josh has been a member of the L.A.H.S. basketball team for four years and plays guard. He was the recipient of the 2008 Coaches Award at the All-Sports Ceremony. Josh also played football for four years at L.A.H.S. and this year was named as an All-District Second Team member at wide receiver. He was also an Honorable Mention All-Parish selection at the wide receiver position, too. Josh has been named as a Class Favorite for two years and has been a member of FCA for three years. He is a three-year member of Antioch Baptist Church Young Laymen Association. He received the “Outstanding Youth MLK” Achievement Award for three years. After graduation, Josh plans to attend Grambling State University or McNeese State University and major in either Business Administration or Sports Medicine.
Lake Arthur High School is very proud of all of its 2009 seniors and wishes them the very best of luck this year and in their future lives.
