The Town of Lake Arthur and its surrounding communities are slated to kick off their annual Christmas Parades in the coming days and weeks, with the grand old elf himself, Santa Claus, appearing in many of them.
Lake Arthur’s Christmas Parade is set to run on Saturday, December 13, 2008, with plenty of good food, entertainment, and a fireworks show slated for everyone of all ages.
The annual Gumbo Cookoff, a favorite each year for cold, hungry festival-goers to sample, will again take place this December.
An invitation to Santa Claus was sent to the North Pole by Lake Arthur Mayor E.R. “Red” Giles, and the Mayor told the Sun Times just recently that a visit from Santa is to be expected when the parade commences.
Other communities hosting parades, with their dates, include:
--Thursday, December 4th, Crowley will host their parade at 6 p.m.
--Saturday, December 6th, Estherwood will host its parade at 1 p.m.;
--Sunday, December 7th, Morse will host its parade at 3 p.m.;
--Saturday, December 13, Mermentau will host a parade at 5:45 p.m.;
•Sunday, December 14th, Church Point will host a parade at 2 p.m;
--Sunday, December 14th, Iota will host a parade at 3 p.m.
Area citizens are invited and are urged to attend these December events.
