Lake Charles wedding celebrated
The serene atmosphere of Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church in Lake Charles embraced the exchanging of nuptial vows uniting Linzie Lane Blanchard and Mong Hong Nguyen in holy matrimony.
The double ring ceremony commenced amid family and friends during at 1 p.m. mass on Saturday, January 17, 2009, with Fr. Chanh Nguyen officiating.
The bride is the daughter of Chad and Christine Blanchard of Carlyss and Brian and Debra Badon Cormier of Mermentau. She is the granddaughter of Preston and Dianna Blanchard of Carlyss, Whitney and Debbie Drounet of Carlyss, Roy and Sally Cormier of Mermentau, and the late Lloyd and Ann Badon of Johnson Bayou.
The groom is the son of Hung Van and Kim Phuong Nguyen of Rayne. He is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Nguyen of Breaux Bridge.
Both Linzie and Mong are graduates of the Louisiana School of Math, Science and the Arts in Natchitoches and now attend Louisiana State University of Baton Rouge.
Providing scripture readings for the nuptials were the bride and groom, observed during a traditional Vietnamese Mass.
Michael Nguyen and Bruce Dang presented gifts of offertory.
The bride entered on the arm of her father in a stunning diamond white, head beaded gown of the Alfred Angelo Picconé collection. The mermaid style creation featured a chapel-length train. Her headpiece was a mid-length comb veil with beaded edging from the same designer’s collection as her gown. The bride carried an exquisite bouquet of assorted flowers consisting of diamond white, dusty rose and teal hues. Following the ceremony Linzie changed into a pink traditional Vietnamese dress called an Aoidai to toast her guest. The handmade oriental dress sported a shimmery gold trimming.
In keeping with tradition, the bride wore her great-grandmother’s diamond ring as something old, her gown and shoes as something new, earrings from her maid of honor as something borrowed, and something blue was her garter.
Attending the bride as maid of honor was her friend, April Broussard. Other attendants were bridesmaids Whitnie Blanchard, sister of the bride; Cathy Nguyen, sister of the groom; and Julia Reed, Kristen DeDeaux and Chen Zhang, friends of the couple.
Serving as miniature bridesmaids were Brailie Cormier and Maggie Blanchard, sisters of the bride; and Kylie Nguyen, daughter of the bride and groom.
They were escorted by the miniature groomsmen, Seth Blanchard, brother of the bride; and Johnny Nguyen, brother of the groom.
Each attendant was beautifully attired in a tea-length, teal Alfred Angelo design featuring a strapless bodice and bubble-designed skirt embellished with champagne sashes. They each carried a bouquet of assorted seasonal flowers.
Chosen as best man was the groom’s uncle, Huynh Nguyen. Groomsmen were Hong Nguyen, brother of the groom; and Tuah Nguyen, Peter Nguyen, Jo Nguyen and Phuc Tang, friends of the bride.
As guests arrived they were escorted to their seats by ushers Michael Nguyen, cousin of the groom; and Bruce Pang, friend of the groom.
Immediately following the wedding ceremony, a formal reception was held at Chateau de Bon Reve in Sulphur.
The couple will reside in Baton Rouge.
