Laureate Mu Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi meets in September
The Ritual of Jewels Ceremony was held for Gloria Sommers and Gloria Cart at the Beta Sigma Phi meeting on September 16 at the home of Nancy Tislow. Mrs. Tislow, vice prseident; then proceeded to lead the club members in the regular meeting activities.
Mrs. Tislow presented a program on the book “The President’s house”, written by Margret Truman. She gave an excellent and enjoyable review of the book about the Whitehouse followed by a showing of her personal collection of Christmas cards that she had received from the President and First Lady. The meeting was then continued with a thorough discussion between Mrs. Tislow and fellow club members.
Final arrangements were made to attend the Smithsonian Exhibit at the Kaplan Museum on September 24. Dry beans were collected to be delivered to the Crowley Christian Care Center and members were asked to bring can soup to the October meeting to be held at the home of Jane Love.
On August 16, club members, Gloria Sommers, Gloria Cart, Jean Hanks, Nancy Tislow, Jane Love, Clementine Kirsch, Elsie Rowell, Gloria Stutes, Shirley Griffin, Connie Jaubert and guest Marian Gardno enjoyed lunch at Mary and Moly’s Mustard Seed Restaurant in Crowley followed by a cultural outing tour of the Great Harvest Bread Company in Lafayette.
