Lawrence James (L.J.) Kibodeaux, Sr.
Lawrence James (L.J.) Kibodeaux, Sr., 70, a resident of Bogalusa, La., passed away Saturday evening, January 22, at the LSU Bogalusa Medical Center following an illness.
Mr. Kibodeaux was born in Rayne, La., was a son of the late Joseph and Ina Monceaux Kibodeaux of Rayne, La. Mr. Kibodeaux recently retired from the LSU Bogalusa Medical Center. He began his career as a Medical Technologist in 1958 at Rayne Branch Hospital while attending college. In his 50-year career as a medical professional, Mr. Kibodeaux worked at several hospitals including those in Arnaudville, La.; Beaumont/Port Arthur, Texas; Hickory, NC; Boutte, La.; Port Sulphur, La.; and finally, for several years in Bogalusa, La. Mr. Kibodeaux dedicated his life to serving his patients and made many friends along the way.
Mr. Kibodeaux was a graduate of Rayne High School and attended college at the University of South Louisiana, in Lafayette. In his early years, he enjoyed motorcycling, fishing off the coast of Texas and traveling.
He was preceded in death by his former wife Norma Trahan Kibodeaux of Rayne, and his parents Joseph and Ina Monceaux Kibodeaux. He is survived by his wife Rosalie Riddle Kibodeaux of Bogalusa, La., and seven children: Tina Watson and husband Jerry of Marrero, La.; Ovide (OJ) Kibodeaux and wife Shirley of Gulfport, Ms.; L. James Kibodeaux, Jr. and wife Marianne of Manhattan, Ks.; Lisa Kenny of Houston, Texas; Karen Steele and husband Kenny of Ocean Springs, Ms.; Darren Kibodeaux and wife Roxanne of Rayne, La.; and Michael Laux and wife Herlene of Luling, La. He is also survived by his siblings Johnny Kibodeaux and wife Janelle of Rayne, La.; Marie K. Mouton and husband Harry of New Iberia, La.; and Jo Ann K. Constantin and husband Calice of Indian Bayou, La.. Mr. Kibodeaux is also survived by nine grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 5, 2011, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Rayne, La.
