Leona Benoit Leger
CROWLEY - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 12 noon Friday, September 10, 2010 for Leona Benoit Leger, 84, who died at 10 a.m. Monday, September 6, 2010 at her residence in Crowley.
Fr. Matthew Higginbotham will celebrate the Mass and the committal services at the Woodlawn Cemetery. The Rosary will be prayed at 6:30 p.m. Thursday. The family is requesting visiting hours be held Thursday from 10 a.m. until 9 p.m. and Friday from 8 a.m. until service time.
Mrs. Leger was born Sept. 4, 1926 in Crowley. She was a lifelong member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church. She was the secretary for both the Church and Redemptorist Catholic School for many years.
She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Garland Leger of Crowley; two daughters Denise L. Jardell of Lafayette and Suzette L. Perles and her husband Richard of New Orleans; two sons Stephen Leger of Church Point and Garland J. “Joey” Leger, Jr. and his wife Sheila of Carencro; five grandchildren Jeremy Jardell, Michelle Leger, Aaron Perles, Jordyn Deshotel and Aaron Deshotel; two great-grandchildren Everett Jardell and Bailey Harmon and a sister-in-law Helen Hanks of Egan.
She was preceded in death by her parents Remy and Emerante Comeaux Benoit; two brothers Norris and Jimmy Benoit and two sisters Ludy Menard and Mildred Dieudonne.
