Iota recognizes Catholic Daughters of the Americas

Iota Mayor Cynthia F. McDaniel, seated right, recently signed a proclamation for Oct. 20 to be recognized as Catholic Daughters of the Americas Day in the town of Iota. Those on hand for the signing were, seated from left, Anita Dupre, court regent; Rev. Jude Thierry, pastor of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Iota, McDaniel; and St. Francis Court 1519 members, standing, Marlene Gotte, Audrey Miller, Belinda Doucet, Mary Guillory, Carol Leonards and Nelwyn A. Hannon. The National Board of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas has designated Oct. 20 as Catholic Daughter Sunday. Court St. Francis 1519, chartered Nov. 13, 1949, will celebrate its 64th anniversary in conjunction with National CDA Day with an 11 a.m. Holy Mass in St. Joseph Church in Iota followed by a banquet. The raffle drawing will occur at the banquet.
