Les Dames Acadienne held its regular monthly meeting at the Acadia Parish Library in Crowley on Wednesday, Feb. 12.
The meeting was hosted by Bonnie Gaspard, Dot Guidry, Lois Richard and Yvonne Seneca-Foreman.
Special guest Heather Ruppert of Spalon Family Salon demonstrated the products she uses in her salon and styled the hair of several of the club members.
The meeting was led by Betty Miller, president. Secretary Bonnie Gaspard read the minutes of the last meeting, Cynthia Kratzer, treasurer, gave the financial report and committee chairs updated the group on their work.
Thirteen Les Dames members were present, and one was absent.
The club voted to make a monetary donation to the American Heart Association. Monies were collected and arrangements for the donation will be made.
Kratzer reported on the arrangements for the Les Dames’ annual spring trip on April 9. The members plan to visit the Louisiana Spirits Rum Factory in Lacassine, as well as The Steamer Trunk antiques and art shop and Rosebud’s Gift & Children’s Shop, both in Jennings. They also plan to eat at Mike’s Steakhouse in Jennings before returning to Crowley.
The members were reminded that the club is still seeking cookbook recipes.
Yvonne Seneca-Foreman reminded that the next monthly meeting will be at The Gallery on March 12. She advised that the club members wear old clothing or bring overgarments to protect clothing as they will all be painting pictures with their own palettes of colors.
Pursuant to a motion and second, club dues were raised for the coming club year.
After the business portion of the meeting, the members of Les Dames enjoyed a luncheon served by the hostesses.
