The Pink Ladies Auxiliary of the American Legion Hospital changed their usual meeting place to celebrate an early Christmas at the home of Evelyn Barousse.
The group held its monthly business meeting prior to enjoying a Christmas luncheon and gift-swap.
President Gloria LeBlanc led the meeting. Lou Cormier, chaplain, led the volunteer pledge, prayer and Pledge of Allegiance. Secretary Roberta Sonnier called roll and presented the minutes of last month’s meeting. Nettie Romero gave the treasurer’s report.
The president reviewed several matters, reminding the Pink Ladies that the days before and after holidays are normal work days for them, and that she should be advised whenever a Pink Lady is admitted to the hospital as a patient.
Leisa Thibodeaux reported that the Pink Lady application for Ella Istre had been returned, and the name of Georgie Prather was submitted by Leora Amy and approved.
Lou Cormier led the blessing before meals and the business meeting was adjourned.
Barousse’s lovely home was tastefully decorated with many seasonal arrangements.
The ladies gathered around the dining table and exchanged “pink” elephant gifts before enjoying a “finger food” meal consisting of sandwiches, dips and chips, sausages and an array of tempting desserts.
The next business meeting of the board will be held on Monday, Jan. 6, 2014, at 9 a.m. in the conference room of the American Legion Hospital.
