Spring Concert shows new spirit of Crowley High School Band

The Color Guard performed a tribute to Michael Jackson.

Crowley High School’s new Glee Club performed Adele’s “Rolling in the Deep” and Katy Perry’s “Firework” at the 2014 Spring Concert.

The drumline cadences were a hit with the crowd.

With a variety of talent being showcased, the Crowley High School Band drew a large crowd at this year’s Spring Concert, which was held at the school on the evening of Monday, May 19.

Under the leadership of new Band Director Alex Riviere, who is completing his first year at the school, the band played a number of classical pieces while also infusing current hits and incorporating the school’s newly formed Glee Club.

Additionally, the band went off the program as the drumline was called forth to sample some of its cadences, later returning for an encore.

The concert closed with a performance of Pharrel’s “Happy” by the marching band.

During the awards ceremony following the concert, Edwin Lewis was presented the Quincy Jones Musicianship Award for creativity and musicianship. The Patrick S. Gilmore Band Award, given to an outstanding graduating senior went to Rodneaka Thibo. Toren Spears received the Band Director’s Award for outstanding dedication, and the John Philip Sousa Band Award, the highest award in the school band field, went to Jasmine LeMaire, who demonstrated superior musicianship, leadership and dependability.
