Teen Miss Crowley pageant contestants announced

The judges of this year’s Miss Crowley pageant competitions have difficult jobs ahead of them in selecting the new Miss Crowley, Teen Miss Crowley and Junior Miss Crowley. A total of nineteen contestants have entered the pageant, with nine vying for Miss Crowley and five each competing for Teen Miss Crowley and Junior Miss Crowley.
The Miss Crowley Pageant, organized by the Crowley Professional Women’s Club, will be held at the Grand Opera House of the South on Saturday, July 26, at 6 p.m. Doors open at 5:15 p.m. and tickets are general admission, $15.

Victoria Marie Callahan is the 16-year-old daughter of Michael and Angela Callahan and stands 5’3” tall. She has brown hair and blue-green eyes. Victoria is currently a junior at Crowley High School where she is active in the Science Club, Drama Club, 4-H Club, pep squad and cheerleading. Her awards and honors include Outstanding Student, Outstanding Writer, honor roll, Leadership Award, Hardest Working Student and Sacre Couer Catholic Youth Award. She is involved in her church choir and volunteers at the Crowley Christian Care food drive. She also participated in nursing home visitation for Valentine’s Day. In her spare time, she enjoys singing, tumbling, running, exercising, photography, riding horses, acting, fishing, shopping, mission work, pageants, trying new foods, dancing, swimming, babysitting and coordinating special events. She is also interested in working with special needs children. Victoria donated Christmas presents for the Christmas Angels program. After high school, she plans to attend the University of Louisiana at Lafayette and to one day become a nurse. Her sponsor for this year is Mike Goss, Candidate for District Judge.
Jamie Nicole Hanks is the 16-year-old daughter of Audie and Kiisha Hanks. She stands 4’ 11” tall and has brown hair and brown eyes. She is currently a junior at Notre Dame High School with plans to graduate in May of 2016. Jamie is a member of Student Council and Drama Club. She is also a football trainer and attended art rally. She received the Patrick E. Taylor Foundation Award and is listed under the bronze category of students for having a grade point average of 3.0 or higher all year. In her spare time, she enjoys painting, writing, running and speaking mild Spanish. She is also a country music fan and lives by the motto, “There is always tomorrow, and today will be yesterday, so never be mad or sad.” Her plans after graduation are to attend Louisiana State University and to pursue a career in psychology. Jamie is being sponsored by H&H Electrical Services.
Michaela Louise Jabusch is the 16-year-old daughter of Bryan and Debbie Jabusch. She stands 5’2” tall with dark brown hair and green eyes. She is currently a junior at Notre Dame High School of Acadia Parish. Her high school activities include involvement in the Drama Club, community service and membership on the swim team, pep squad and school choir. Michaela is involved in the church choir and volunteers for vacation bible school. She participates in nursing home visitation and the live nativity. She also assisted with the Valentine dance for special needs persons and babysits for single moms. Michaela has cooked and served meals for Ronald McDonald house at St. Jude’s hospital. In her spare time, Michaela enjoys singing, dancing, acting, gymnastics, playing the piano and guitar, swimming, watching movies and theaters, shopping, art and hanging out with friends. She is also interested in missionary work and sponsors a child in Sri Lanka. She has raised money and brought bears to nursing homes and hospitals for Christmas. In addition, she has raised money and collected Beanie babies for St. Jude’s hospital. Michaela has her own song that she recorded and is in the process of making a music video with PMW records in California. Her plans after high school are to attend Louisiana State University to become an emergency room physician. Her sponsor for this year’s event is Evangeline Bank.
Cyla Lynn Ledet is the 15-year-old daughter of Corey and Cisha Ledet and Cisha Ledet and stands 5’ 4” tall. She has brown hair and hazel eyes. Cyla is currently a freshman at Iota High School where she is active in the Christian Club, the Beta Club and the Reading Club. She is also a member of the baseketball and track teams. Her awards and honors include TOPS and honor roll award. She is active in her youth group by babysitting and helping the elderly. She also volunteers at the Crowley Animal Shelter walking and bathing animals. In her spare time, Cyla enjoys drawing, spending time with her family and friends, running, reading, swimming, basketball and babysitting her niece. After high school, she plans to attend Louisiana State University and to one day perform cardiothoracic surgery. Her sponsor for this year is Shabby to Chic.
Brooklynn Nicole Miller is the 16-year-old daughter of John and Chastity Miller. She stands 5’ 4” tall and has light brown hair and light brown eyes. She is currently a junior at Crowley High School with plans to graduate in May of 2016. Brooklynn is a member of the Interact Club, yearbook staff and Student Council. In her spare time, she enjoys track and field, golf, basketball and football training. She also enjoys spending time with family and friends, helping out at her mom’s spa and babysitting her little sister. Her plans after graduation are to attend Louisiana State University and to pursue a career as a nurse, specializing in obstetrics. Brooklynn is being sponsored by Madelynn Brooks Salon, Spa & Boutique.
