Local NAACP chapter, members nominated for state awards

NAACP Acadia Parish Chapter 6299 has been nominated for the Outstanding Branch Award in Louisiana. The recipient branch will be announced at the state conference in Marksville the weekend of Sept. 27. Members who have worked to build the relatively new chapter include, front row from left, Roland Bernard, Aisha Ali, Mona Woods, Edna Robinson, Mary R. Cobb, Dr. Ezora Proctor, Pastor Russell Cobb; back row, Walter Andrus, Cynthia Dominick, Audrey Spencer, Betty Johnson, Evelyn Pleasure, Charlene Thibo and Vernon Martin.
