RAYNE – Funeral services were held at St Edmund Catholic Church in Branch, Sunday, January 4, 2009, at 2 p.m. for Lionel Edward Thevis, 74, who died Friday, January 2, 2009, at Crowley American Legion Hospital.
Interment was held in the St. Edmund Cemetery.
Surviving was his wife, Barbara Monte Thevis, of Rayne; son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Karen Thevis of Welsh; son and daughter-in-law, Jeff and Carla Thevis of Mowata; son and daughter-in-law, Monte and Melanie Thevis of Judice; son and daughter-in-law, Ricky and Paula Thevis of Roberts Cove; brother and sister-in-law, Ferdie “Jack” and Wilda Thevis of Eunice; sister-in-law, Josie Thevis of Roberts Cove; grandson, Karl Thevis; granddaughter, Abby Thevis-Trahan; grandson, Christopher Thevis; granddaughter, Emily Thevis; grandson, Jason Thevis; granddaughter, Madeline Thevis; granddaughter, Elise Thevis; granddaughter, Rachel Thevis; and granddaughter, Heidi Thevis.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Gerhard and Veronica Ohlenforst Thevis; and one brother, Anthony “Buster” Thevis.
He was born Thursday, October 25, 1934 in Crowley, son of the late Gerhard Thevis and the late Veronica Ohlenforst Thevis.
He worked as a machine shop saw operator and for many years he worked at W H Hodges Auction Barn.
Friends were received Saturday, January 3, 2009 from 2 p.m. until 9 p.m., and on Sunday, January 4, 2009 from 8:30 a.m. until services at the Gossen Funeral Home in Rayne. There was a 6 p.m. rosary and a 7:30 p.m. rosary.
Arrangements were entrusted to Gossen Funeral Home of Rayne.
