'Little Black Dress' shower fetes bride-elect Ariel Mire
SCOTT - The Acadian Village’s Stutes Store was the perfect setting for the Sunday, June 23, afternoon bridal shower honoring Ariel Michelle Mire of Scott, bride-elect of Ryan James Broussard, also of Scott.
Ariel is the daughter of Pebbles and Corwin Mire of Rayne, and Ryan is the son of Roxanne and Everett Broussard of Youngsville.
The shower, themed “Slip on Your Little Black Dress,” was hosted by Ariel’s maid of honor, Tori Lacroix, and her bridesmaids, Hannah Hebert, Ashley Prejean, Jenifer Tate, Brooke Thibodeaux, Sarah Lawlis and Paige Broussard.
The store was decorated in colors of hot pink, black and white. The room was filled with balloons, and lanterns were hung from the wooden beams.
White cloths covered the tables, and the white chairs were finished with sheer hot pink sashes tied in bows.
The guest tables were sprinkled with wedding-style confetti and topped with black carved picture frames and centerpieces of wine glasses covered with black and white lamp shades and illuminated with tea candles.
The approximately 40 guests in attendance enjoyed a variety of finger foods and hors d’oeuvres served on a table decorated with giant diamond rings. The tasty menu included turkey and ham sandwiches, a shrimp mold, pasta salad, potato salad, taco dip, and fruit and vegetable trays, while sipping mimosas and fruit sherbet punch.
For dessert, attendees enjoyed a delicious cake decorated with white icing and black and pink polka dots. The cake was displayed beneath a painting of a little black dress, and a small mannequin wearing a strapless little black dress decorated the cake table, along with a sign that read, “The Future Ms. Broussard.”
The gift table was decorated with a banner painted by the bride-elect that read, “91 days ’til she’s wed.”
For her shower, Ariel selected a white knee-length, strapless cocktail dress featuring a satin sweetheart neckline, natural waistline and rhinestone embellishments. The A-line satin skirt was topped with sheer tulle and finished with scalloped lace edging. To complete her outfit, Ariel wore hot pink rhinestone platform high heel pumps.
Ariel’s mother, Pebbles Mire, chose a fitted, V-necked black lace cocktail dress that ended just below the knee. In place of a corsage, she wore a rhinestone pin, given to her by Ariel, that read, “Mother of the Bride.”
The mother of the groom, Roxanne Broussard, wore a knee-length black fitted cocktail dress with sheer accents. Her rhinestone pin, also a gift from Ariel, read, “Mother of the Groom.”
Guests traveled from Texas and numerous points throughout Louisiana to attend the shower. Special guests included the bride-elect’s godmother, Michelle Koury, and her future sister-in-law from Austin, Texas, Sarah Lawlis.
The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Lucy and Glen Kibodeaux, and Milton Mire and the late Ora Mire, all of Rayne.
The prospective groom is the grandson of Joyce Stelly of Duson and Mr. and Mrs. Everett Broussard of Abbeville.
Ariel and Ryan will be wed on Saturday, September 21, during a 6 p.m. ceremony at Point-aux-Loups Springs Ballroom in Iota.
