Livestock show and sale winners announced

CROWLEY – The annual livestock show concluded Saturday with the annual livestock sale.

As the event got underway at 10:30 a.m., Barrett Courville welcomed everyone to the yearly event which features parish 4-H and FFA members all vying for the title of grand champion in their respective divisions.

While the temperature outside may not have been ideal, the weather, along with the crowd size were all that the LSU AgCenter’s extension office could have asked for.

Prior to showing off all the champions, Courville also reminded everyone that each year they work to improve the show and if anyone had any suggestions, they should contact a member of the Livestock Advisory Board prior to their meeting March 15.

Champions in all 12 major categories and all of its subcategories were named. Grand champion winners, however, were:

Grand champion, steer: Lillian Gaspard. Gaspard’s steer was purchased by First National Farms for $5000.

Grand champion, lamb: Andrew Bellon. The championship lamb was bought by Martin Petitjean for $2500.

Grand champion, hog: Zach Breaux. Breaux’s hog was purchased by Mike Goss for $2200.

Grand champion, goat: Marcus Briscoe. The top market goat was purchased by Tripoint LLC for $1200.
