Livonia rallies past Church Point
CHURCH POINT – Livonia exploded for 23 second-half points to grab a 29-13 win over Church Point on Friday night.
With the loss, the Bears fell to 6-3 overall and 3-1 in District 5-3A.
Livonia (7-2, 2-2) jumped out to a 6-0 lead when Justin Riley scored on a 15-yard fumble return with 9:41 left in the first period.
Church Point grabbed a 7-6 lead on a 3-yard run by James Bellard and Kian Richard’s PAT with 5:19 remaining in the second period.
The Bears took a 13-6 lead into the locker room when Deonta Lazard scored on a 28-yard pass from Brett Richard with 53 seconds left in the half.
Livonia regained the lead late in the third quarter when Darius Hammond returned a punt 55 yards for a touchdown..
Tre Northern hauled in the two-point conversion pass from Ben Todd to push the Wildcats ahead, 14-13 with 2:48 left in the third period.
Marquis Beauvais scored on a 7-yard run and Russell Faris ran in the two-point conversion to push Livonia ahead, 22-13 with 6:23 left in the game.
The Wildcats sealed the victory when Brandon Armand scored on a 4-yard run and Hammond’s kick gave the Wildcats a 29-13 advantage with 1:09 left in the game.
Bellard led the Bears with 112 yards and a toucchdown on 20 carries.
Deion Monroe added 64 yards on 12 carries.
Richard completed 2-of-6 passes for 48 yards with two interceptions.
Lazaro caught two passes for 46 yards with a score.
Russell Farris led Livonia with 104 yards on 14 carries.
Todd completed 2-of-6 passes for 48 yards, both to Hammond.
Church Point closes the regular season with a road trip to second-ranked and undefeated Eunice on Thursday night.
Livonia entertains Port Barre (1-8, 0-4) on Friday.
