2013 Project Pink held, royalty crowned

The 16th annual “Project Pink”, Breast Cancer Awareness event, and the 6th annual Project Pink Pageant were held Sunday, October 6, at the Rayne Civic Center. 

Chairperson for the 2013 event was Theresa Prather, assisted by ladies of Preceptor Alpha Chi Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority.

The day was dedicated to the late Helen Blue Garrett, with Janet Boudreaux named this year’s Project Pink Ambassador.

The colors were presented by members of the local fire departments.

The children’s pageant began at 9:30 a.m. with the following honorees crowned:

Baby Division: Queen Harlow Ann Harper, 1st Alternate Hadley Sonnier, 2nd Alternate Eleanor Rose Schwinn.

T’Nincy Division: Queen Aubrie Bliss Melancon, 1st Alternate Phoebe Mydle, 2nd Alternate Eden Rae Jefcoat, Pohotogenic Paityn Michelle Jones. 

Toddler Division: Queen Hailee Jane Harper, 1st Alternate and Photogenic Shaylee Michelle Foster.

Tiny Division: Queen and Photogenic Abbi Hymel, 1st Alternate Gracie Hensgens.

Petite Division: Queen Ava Marie Istre, 1st Alternate Emmy Claire Navarre, 2nd Alternate and Photogenic Paiten Nicole Meyer.

Little Division: Queen  and Photogenic Ella Nicole Arabie, 1st Alternate Mayomi Gardemal, 2nd Alternate Jenyth Dale Allen.

Deb Division: Queen Kailey Blair Hollier, 1st Alternate and Photogenic Harleigh Cormier, 2nd Alternate Lindsey Ortego.

Following the children’s division contests, PAC Chapter president and Project Pink chairperson Theresa Prather presented a $5,000 check to Susan G. Komen representative Marla Johnnie.

The afternoon session began with the following division winners:

Junior Teen Division: Queen Kinley Shae Comeaux, 1st Alternate Jessica Clayton.

Teen Division: Queen Bethany Renee Thibodeaux, 1st Alternate Michaela Jabusch.

Miss Division: Queen and Photogenic Sidney Fontenot, 1st Alternate Brittlyn Cormier.

Ms. Division: Queen Angie Fruge.

Lady Division: Queen Miranda Quebedeaux.

Tickets were also sold for the annual “Angel of Hope” 12” Seraphim angel raffle valued at $175. She wears a pink ribbon and sash to represent the commitment to bringing the world closer to a cure of breast cancer. Winners were announced and the day of events which ended with the annual balloon release.
