Gay marriage licenses available in Acadia on Wednesday

According to Clerk of Court Robby Barousse and Chief Deputy Clerk Blane Faulk, same-sex couples will be able to get marriage licenses at the Acadia Parish Clerk of Court’s Office beginning today.
Both say that any delay in the process was not due to any political beliefs, but simply a matter of getting their computers programmed properly.

City’s budget to include raises

Looking at the city of Crowley’s budget for the new fiscal year, there is not much difference than this past year’s, except for one thing civil servants have been in search of for months: a raise.
There is a 4 percent raise for all current full-time employees except for the police, who will receive a 6 percent increase if the budget is ultimately adopted.

Rotarians celebrate year, install officers

Far left, Dr. Ezora Proctor, a Crowley Rotarian who served as Rotary International District 6200 Governor during the past year, installed the new officers for the Rotary Club of Crowley’s 2015-16 year. New officers include from left, Pat Miers, president; Tracy Young, president-elect; Susan Comeaux, secretary; Debbie Spallino, treasurer; and Suzy Webb, Michael Doughty, Peggy Sandidge and Kirk Schexnider, members of the board of directors.

After a year of projects and a district conference, you would have thought the Rotary Club of Crowley would have opted for an easy banquet Wednesday night.
That wasn’t the case. With the backdrop of the Grand Opera House, Rotarians welcomed music from Trevin Trahan during its cocktail social prior to the banquet and were eager to enjoy the night with flair.
