CROWLEY – With All-District, All-Parish and LSWA All-State honors already under their belts, four Acadia Parish baseball players added another accolade to their long list of accomplishments when the Louisiana Baseball Coaches Association recently released its 2009 All-State team.
Notre Dame’s Austin Robichaux, Bryant Gilbert and Ryan Leonards each earned a spot on the Class AAA team while Jeremy Marceaux made the list in Class C.
Robichaux made the team as a pitcher after helping lead the Pios to the Class AAA semifinals with a record of 7-2 and one save. He posted and earned run average of 2.07 with 78 strikeouts in 64 innings.
Robichaux is joined on the LBCA pitching staff by St. Charles’ Jared Keating, Kaplan’s Tyler Domingue, Lutcher’s Jordan Hymel and Loranger’s Taylor Abdalla.
Gilbert is one of five outfielders selected for the squad. He hit .480 during the regular season before an injury limited his playing time during the playoffs. The speedy center fielder logged seven doubles, five triples, one home run and 29 RBI during his senior campaign.
The other four outfielders selected are Parkview’s Alex Edwards and Brant Legendre, St. Charles’ Brady Hitt and Lutcher’s Gavin Webster.

The infield consists of North Desota’s Jake Lansdale, Parkview’s Alex Byo and Brennan Middleton, Bunkie’s Tyler Gagnard and North Vermilion’s Mark Frederick.
Parkview also nabbed two of the team’s three top honors – Coach of the Year M.L. Woodruff and Pitcher of the Year Andrew Reeves. St. Charles’ Alex Marse was named the Player of the Year.
In Class C, Marceaux was named to the team as a utility player after pitching and playing shortstop for the Warriors.
The junior hurler logged a record of 3-1 in league play in 2009 en route to earning the Outstanding Player award on the 6-C All-District.
In league play, Marceaux worked 20 solid innings, striking out 36 while finishing with an earned run average of 2.10.
Marceaux was also a force at the plate, hitting .385 in five district games with two doubles, one triple and five RBI.
He was the only Warrior named to the Louisiana Sports Writers Association Class C All-State first team.
Claiborne Christian’s Jake Bell was named the Class C Player of the year while Elizabeth’s Garron Greene was tabbed as the Player of the Year. Coach of the Year honors went to Claiborne’s Chad Olinde.
