Longtime Crowley surgeon C.C. Matirne Jr. dies
A mass of Christian burial will be held Saturday, August 13, 2011 at 11:30 a.m. at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church in Crowley for C. C. Matirne Jr., MD, 81, who died Thursday, August 11, 2011 at 6:15 p.m. in Crowley.
Dr. Matirne was a resident of Crowley and a native of Rosedale. He’s a graduate of LSU Medical School in 1955 and practiced as a general surgeon in Crowley for 35 years. He served his country in the U.S. Navy having been an officer and was an avid hunter and fisherman.
Fr. Gary Schexnayder, pastor of St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church, will officiate for the services. The family requests visiting hours Saturday from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery. A rosary will be recited at 9 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
Dr. Matirne is survived by his wife of 51 years, Margaret Mary “Bonnie” Bondy Matirne of Crowley; one daughter, Yvette Celeste M. Hunt and her husband Tommy of Lafayette; five sons, Jeffrey Matirne of Lafayette, Greg Matirne and his wife Katy of Vatican, Keith Matirne and his wife Tammy of St. James, Scott Matirne and his wife Barbara of St. Petersburg, Fla. and Wayne Matirne of Crowley; 10 grandchildren; one sister, Dot M. Clausen of Thibodaux; and one brother, Charles A. Matirne of Thibodaux.
He was preceded in death by his parents, C. C. Matirne Sr. and Elise Guillott Matirne; and one brother, Dennis Matirne.
Pallbearers will be his sons, Jeffrey, Greg, Keith, Scott and Wayne and his son-in-law, Tommy.
The family requests memorial contributions to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
