BEAUMONT – A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Sunday, March 15, 2009 at 1 p.m. at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church, Crowley for Louis A. Landry, 88, of Beaumont who died Wednesday March 11, 2009 after a brief illness.
Mr. Landry, a native of Crowley, Louisiana, was a longtime resident of Beaumont before moving to Austin late last year. He worked for the United States Department of Agriculture, managing the Beaumont grain division office. Upon retirement, he enjoyed promoting the artwork of his wife, Lois, spending time with his grandchildren, and helping elderly family and neighbors.
Fr. Gary Schexnayder, Pastor of St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church, will officiate for the services. The family requests visiting hours Sunday from 9 a.m. to service time. A rosary will be recited Sunday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery.
He is survived by his daughters, Jeanne Landry Chaltain and her husband, Christopher, of Austin, and Nancy Landry Dickey and her husband Joseph of Beaumont; four grandchildren, Jonathan Chaltain and Matthew Chaltain, both of Austin, Jake Yentzen of Beaumont, and Ashley Yentzen Glenn and her husband, Cody, of Port Neches; his sister, Paula Landry Dronet of Lafayette, Louisiana; and his brother, John T. Landry of Abbeville, Louisiana.
Mr. Landry’s wife, Lois Bachelot Landry, his father, Bennett Landry Sr., his mother, Leonie Lormand Landry; and his brother, Bennett Landry Jr. preceded him in death.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Geesey-Ferguson Funeral Home of Crowley.
