Lovelace Joseph "BaDa" Leger
JENNINGS - A mass of Christian burial will be held at St. John the Evangelist Church in Mermentau on Thursday, February 23, 2012 AT 11 a.m. honoring the life of Lovelace Joseph “BaDa” Leger, age 85 of Morse, who was called to heaven on February 20, 2012. Mr. Leger will be laid to rest in St. John the Evangelist Mausoleum with Father David Broussard officiating the services.
Lovelace Joseph was born in Lyons Point to the late Felix Joseph Leger and the late Agnes Breaux Leger on January 8, 1927. He was a retired farmer and a former employee of Acadia Soil Conservation. Lovelace enjoyed playing the fiddle, gardening, and playing golf.
He was also a former usher at his church. Lovelace was survived by his beloved wife of 66 beautiful years Eveline Benoit Leger of Morse; three sons Larry John Leger (Geraldine “GG”) of Carencro, Lonnie Leger (Nell) of Houston, and Michael James Leger (Debbie) of Houma, two daughters Susan Mire (Louis) of Morse and Millie Broussard (Charles “Chuck”) also of Morse; three sisters Thelma “Sis” Clark of Crowley, Norma Bonin of Morse; and Betty June Myers also of Morse; 13 grandchildren; and 14 great grandchildren.
Mr. Leger was welcomed into heaven by the family whom preceded him in death: his parents, Felix and Agnes Leger; one brother Norris “Bee” Leger; and one grandson Bryan Michael Leger.
Pallbearers will be his grandsons.
Visitation was held at Matthews and Son Funeral Home in Jennings on Wednesday, February 22 from 4 p.m. until 9 p.m. with a rosary recited by Father Neil McNeil at 7 p.m. Visitation will resume on Thursday at 9 a.m. until the time of his services at 11 a.m..
