LSUE rolls past Baton Rouge CC, 17-4

The top-ranked LSU Eunice Bengals defeated Baton Rouge Community College 17-4 Wednesday to improve to 36-5 on the season.
The Bengals exploded for six runs in the bottom of the first inning Trey Watkins singled, Les Aulds walked and Gabriel Thibodeaux hit a home run over the left field fence.
Zach Kirksey and Seth Granger then reached on back-to-back walks as Jacob Fisher then singled in Kirksey.
Granger and Fisher scored on a single by Caleb Clowers for the 6-0 lead.
LSUE added five more runs in the second inning as the contest turned into a romp for the Bengals.
Jordan Bourque doubled and scored on a single by Aulds to open the frame.
Aulds scored on a sacrifice by Kirksey and Thibodeaux scored on a single by Granger.
Granger crossed home plate on a single by Clowers who scored on a single by Boudreaux as the Bengals led 11-0.
Baton Rouge scored twice in the top of the third when Patrick Wallace and Blake LeBlanc touched home plate to close the gap to 11-2.
LSUE added a run in the bottom of the frame when Bourque doubled and scored on a single by Aulds.
The Bengals scored three more runs in the bottom of the fourth inning when Fisher and Clowers scored on a single from Watkins.
Boudreaux reached on a missed third strike and scored on a sacrifice by Bourque to push LSUE ahead 15-2.
The Bengals added two more runs in the bottom of the fifth for a 17-2 advantage when Ty Todd doubled, Granger walked and both scored on an error by BRCC shortstop Kyle Gardere.
BRCC closed the gap to 17-4 in the top of the seventh when James Morgan singled and Dustin Ardoin hit a home run.
Stefan Comeaux (4-0) earned the win going five innings, allowing six hits, two earned runs while striking out seven and walking three.
