CROWLEY – A mass of Christian burial was held Saturday, March 14, 2009 at 11 a.m. at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Crowley for Mrs. Lucille John, 91, who died Thursday evening, surrounded by her family at the home of her daughter, Judy Leggett.
Visitation was from 9 a.m. until time of services on Saturday at Geesey-Ferguson Funeral Home in Crowley, followed by the Christian rite of burial. Internment followed in the Woodlawn Cemetery. A Rosary was prayed at 9:30 a.m. Saturday.
Mrs. John was a native of Crowley, born on April 1, 1918. She was a lady of many accomplishments of which the most important to her was being a loving wife to her husband and caring mother to her children. She was a lifetime member of Saint Michael’s and a member of the Ladies Alter Society.
Survivors include three daughters and two sons, Lynda Cart and her husband Bruce, Paula Crawford and her husband William, Judy Leggett and her husband Donald, Peter Michael John and his wife, Alexa and David M. John and his wife, Aimee; 11 grandchildren, Jodi Cart Richard and her husband Lee, Jeremy Cart and his wife Emily, Jeffrey Cart and his wife Christy, Jill Michael Crawford, Jordon Leigh John, Mitchell P. John II, David Montgomery John, Elle John, Alexander John, Peter Maximilian John and Lucy Michael John and six great-grandchildren, John Bradley Cart, Olivia Cart, Lucille Cart, Catherine Frances Richard, Thomas Lee Richard and Amelia Cart; two brothers, Pat and Harry Thibodeaux and three sisters, Mamie Barrouse, Betty Kober and Margaret Tuthill.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Mitchell P. John, her parents, Joseph and Olive Thibodeaux and a sister, Irene Pizzo.
Pallbearers are: Jeremy Cart, Jeffrey Cart, Alexander John, Peter Maximilian John, Mitchell P. John II, and David Montgomery John.
And on behalf of the entire family a very special thanks is extended to her caregivers Ana Maria and Maria for their love and devotion to Mrs. John.
In lieu of flowers the family request that contributions be made to St. Michael School or Notre Dame High School.
