Lulu Cormier named winner of $1,000 shopping spree
Lula Cormier was delighted to learn last Friday that her entry had been pulled to win the Rayne Acadian-Tribune’s $1,000 Christmas Shopping Spree.
According to Chad Hebert, advertising representative, Cormier’s winning entry was placed at Meche’s Family Drugs.
Asked for her reaction to the good news, Mrs. Cormier said, “I’ve very happy; I can go Christmas shopping.”
When she told her husband, Raymond J. Cormier, about her good fortune, he replied, “ If you don’t want it, I’ll take it.” She was quick to add, “I’ll give him something.”
She added, “This is the biggest gift I’ve every received around town.”
She is the mother of three daughters, Annette LeJeune, Christine Menard and Melissa Cormier and the grandmother of four, Courtney Menard, Austin Menard, Lance Menard and Connor Cormier Richard.
The Tribune staff wishes to extend a Merry Christmas to the Cormier family and a deep felt thank you to the shopping spree’s cooperating businesses.
The winner and her family were presented with gift cards and certificates to 26 local businesses which participated in the Tribune’s yuletide giveaway .
Participants included Trahan’s Foods, Champagne’s Food Store, Winn-Dixie, Farmers True Value, Chef Roy’s Frog City Café, Mouton’s Pharmacy, Gary Matte Builders, Sheriff Wayne Melancon, Candyland Cottage, Acadia Animal Medical Center,
Crawfish Hut, Gabe’s Cajun Food Restaurant, Glamour Closet, Rayne Flower Shop, Patches of Rayne, The Warehouse, Rayne Building and Loan Association, Dee’s Flea Market, DeRouen’s Plumbing, Subway, The Mullet Barbershop, Piggly Wiggly, Kajun Mart #1, Meche’s Family Drugs and Gossen Funeral Home.
