CROWLEY – A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, May 6, 2009 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Roman Catholic Church for Mable Lormand Istre, 86, who died Monday, May 4, 2009 at Southwind Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Crowley.
She was born on July 27, 1922 in rural Kaplan.
Reverend Matthew Higginbotham will officiate at the Mass and music will be provided by Musical Director Esther Trahan and the Immaculate Heart of Mary Adult Choir. Visiting hours at the funeral home will be held from 2 p.m. until 10 p.m. Tuesday and again from 9 a.m. until the time of the service Wednesday. A rosary will be recited Tuesday at 7 p.m. Interment will be in the Woodlawn Mausoleum.
She is survived by one daughter, Linda Guillotte and her husband, David; two sons, Wayne Istre and his wife, Brenda, and Terry Istre and his wife Cindy, all of Crowley; a brother, Loyce Lormand and his wife Eula Mae of Crowley; a sister, Enix Vincent of Houston, Texas; ten grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren; and several cousins, nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were her husband, Thomas Istre; her parents, Galbert and Emmerite Hebert Lormand of Kaplan, two sisters, Verna Gamble of New Orleans and Kirby Hebert of Crowley. Mrs. Istre was a long-time member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church and the Rosary Altar Society.
The family requests donations in her memory be made to Hospice of Acadiana or to the Notre Dame High School of Acadia Parish Tuition Assistance Fund.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Geesey-Ferguson Funeral Home of Crowley.
